Dear Colleague,
It is a pleasure for me to share updates from the Shared Value Initiative in India for the month. The initiative was engaged in the dissemination of the idea of shared value through engagement in various forums and interactions. The two notable ones were –
- Panel discussion on “Role of Corporations in Enhancing Prosperity” It was organized on July 19, at The Imperial, New Delhi as a part of the dialogue on “Economics of Prosperity and Strategy in India”. The panelists Dr. Srinivasa Rangan (Luksic Chair Professor of Strategy and Global Studies, Babson College), Sandeep Goyal (CEO, Shared Value Initiative India), Dr. Ajit Prasad (Director, IIM Lucknow), Raja Chaudhary (Documentary Film Maker), Shankar Singham (Director of Economic Policy and Prosperity Studies, Legatum Institute), and Anurag Batra (Editor-in-Chief, Business World) laid emphasis on the need for identifying the collaborative models of corporates, government, and non-profits for enhancing the prosperity of India.
- Panel discussion on “Private Sector Approaches to South-South and Development Cooperation”. It was organized on August 10-11, as a part of the conference on “Partners in Asian Development Cooperation: The Role of the Private Sector”. The session examined how and why businesses pursue positive development impacts through approaches like corporate social responsibility, fair trade, socially responsible business practices, philanthropy, community involvement, and shared value. Dr. Amit Kapoor, Chair, Shared Value Initiative India shared his ideas on how shared value approaches are contributing to advances in south-south cooperation, particularly from Indian companies.
We are as well getting closer to the Shared Value Summit in India with Partners Day being organised on November 17 and the summit on November 18, 2016, at The Leela, Gurgaon. We are working to bring forth an exciting agenda and look forward to your engagement and participation. More about the summit in next newsletter.
