Shared Value Summit 2015

Shared Value Summit was organized by Shared Value Initiative India, Shared Value Initiative, Institute for Competitiveness (India), India Council on Competitiveness and Vivekananda International Foundation at The Leela, Gurgaon.

It was a celebrations of ideas around shared value amongst a varied cross-section of practitioners, thought leaders, government leadership and corporate honchos. The summit included interactions, meaningful panel discussions, keynotes from national and international speakers on creating shared value.

The chief guest, Shri Suresh Prabhu, Honourable Union Minister of Railways, Government of India, delivered a keynote relating the role of government and businesses in society. He stated that aligning business interest to society is better for the long term and is important for sustainable business models to have an effective outcome and create social public good. The Minister also said that the Shared Value Initiative is making an impact with the right partners.

Mark R. Kramer highlighted the limited role of philanthropy based corporate social responsibility in solving social problems. The assertion driven home was the tremendously important role the businesses can play in resolving issues of our society and economy.

Blessings to the event were sounded by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President & Spiritual Head – Parmarth Niketan. Swamiji urged businesses to adopt values of acceptance and respect for all and linked Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Human Resource Responsibility (HSR).

Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati, President – Divine Shakti Foundation, enlightened the audience on the importance of businesses for the development of any nation. She brought to fore that adopting shared value is the only solution that will enable a sustainable, bright & positive future for businesses and society.

Suresh Narayan, Chairman & MD, Nestle India, discussed the achievements of Nestle by leveraging the paradigm of creating shared value. He pointed out that creating shared value goes beyond compliance and sustainability amongst aiming to create new and greater values for the society as also for shareholders.

Rahul Gangal, Partner, Roland Berger, delivered the closing keynote that highlighted market opportunities in addressing societal needs and challenges. His remarks enlightened the fact that shared value has given a new and more relevant definition to productivity for businesses that will lead to an inclusive development of society.
